Screen Door

I contacted Construction Services at The Villages.com about buying a screen door for the sliding glass door from the house to the Lanai. T and D Windows does not stock the screen door. It costs $250 and 8-12 weeks shipping. This does not include delivery and installation. They are using a different screen door and it does not fit the door I have from last year. Has anyone tried buying a screen door at Lowe's and see if it fits and works?

I’ve been told Romac in Leesburg also sells and installs screen doors.

Why would you need a screen door to the lanai? Is you lanai not screened? If not, I don't call that a lanai, that's a porch.

Well, shut the front door, sorry, I mean the lanai door! Our Lanai is screened but geckos, f&^^^^%^^ love bugs and other bugs still sneak in especially when constantly going in and out of the house through the lanai when BBQing and wind up in the house so I screened the slider. Bought one at Lowes and it fits perfectly and slides easily like custom made and works great for $80. 10 minutes to install. Now my wife is happy for just $80. Happy wife, happy life. https://www.lowes.com/pd/Grisham-Whi...-in/1001600538

Call Home Warranty, they can tell you the company that installed the door and they should have the screen door that fits. I had no luck with a screen door from Lowes.

Maybe it wasn't the same one I got, they had a couple different ones. Are you sure you didn't install it upside down or inside out? :1rotfl: Kidding aside, what was the problem as it was virtually put it in place, loosen 2 screws that held the 2 tension springs on top and attach the lock thing on the jam and slide in the hairy thing :) that closed the gap when locked. The paper instructions were no good but they had a video online which made it clear. I discovered the grooved sliding wheels didn't go INSIDE the track but sat on top of it which took me the video to realize.

We got a screen door from T&D and it was $89, but that was 9 years ago.

As the man says "happy wife, happy life"

It does keep out from the house any bugs, lizards, etc that make it onto the lanai

I have been here eight years and never had a lizard come into the house on its own.
I have accidentally brought one or two in on seat cushions that was brought into the house not knowing a lizard sitting on it.

Agree. Never even thought of screening the door. A gecko or love bug or wharever will come in the front door as you go in and out. Leaving the lanai door unscreened isnt going to let thousands of living things in anymore than the front door. Even if you leave it open all day.
