Is there any way to mute TV commercials?

Let's see - Dan Newlin, John Morgan, Local Steals and Deals, Appliance Direct, Appliance Stockade, Toyota of Orlando, yada yada yada.

50 years ago there was a product called MuteMagic that apparently was pretty simple and effective - so the feds did away with it, of course.

It seems there should be some kind of artificial intelligence option to either automatically mute commercials or change to music or something. Right now my darling wife mutes it all the time which works pretty well, but she's not always in the room. LOLOL.

If anyone has any good ideas, share 'em.

Hi Stu. Well yeah, I know. But I like to watch the morning news and weather.

Maybe in "Stu Village" there won't be commercials on live TV ?

You can record the first 20 minutes of an hour show, and then start from the beginning, and fast forward past the commercials.

What does that have to do with skipping commercials?

villagetinker 03-06-2021 08:06 PM

OP, you cannot "skip" commercials on LIVE TV, as noted above, using a DVR you can skip over the commercials we do this quite often. Also as noted above you can mute the commercials, but of course you have yo keep an eye on the TV so you know when to unmute. So I guess unless you decide to use a DVR and as noted above record about a third of the program then watch the RECORDED version you have no other choices.

OOPS! I just reread your original post, I do not know of a way to MUTE commercials AUTOMATICALLY. You could try an internet search and you might get lucky, however, any solution will need access to the audio, and if this is muted,,, well you get the idea very difficult.

The OP is asking is there any way to mute commercials.

I don't understand what the problem is either. Just hit the remote. Skipping commercials is different than muting them.

For next anniversary buy her a pair of headphones and she can watch with TV sound turned off only hearing thru headphones.

I don't want to be muting on and off all the time, that's all.

This is the best response so far. I'll try that.
