Golf Cart Repair

Yesterday I inadvertently hit the directional lever on my golf cart and it broke leaving only a small stub. Has anyone ever had one of these break? Where did you get it fixed? Any recommendations where I could have it fixed?

If you have an older style system, with the electromechanical flasher unit there are many replacements available. You need to look at the number of wires from the unit, minimum is 7 and I have seen up to 10 depending on additional functions like a horn button, or lights. These usually have a standardized color code, so in many cases you can simply remove to old unit and splice the wires together (color for color) with high quality crimp connectors. I do not believe it is possible to repair the 'stick' that broke.

Thanks for the info! Sounds like quite the project. Do you think places that service golf carts would be able to do what your suggesting??

Yes, for $$$, I gave the info because you can save a lot of money as a DIY project. There will typically be a plastic channel from the turn signal switch to the dash, removing this will allow you to see the number of wires as I noted before. If you can remove the dash (different carts have different ways to do this, try youtube videos) look for a electromechanical flasher (a round device about 1 inch in diameter and 1 inch tall) this is typical with the older style incandescent lights (NOT LED). Send me a PM if you would like to discuss or if you would like me to look at your cart.
