Dentist recommendation
 

I am Looking for a dentist who is willing to make every effort to save a tooth and will replace older fillings. My most recent experience was with a filling that had fallen out. The dentist said she couldn’t work with the existing situation, and offered options of a crown, a cap or an extraction. I was able to go north and see my dentist and he repaired the tooth. It is still working.

The haters will probably jump all over this, but we find this a common practice here, in dental and medical. Just very different, and your example was very representative of much more costly, and often much more invasive techniques. Our previous doctors and dentists would always say " this may not work out but.... it may be fine and last with not problems so let's start there". Had other things, where doctors starting point was the most invasive and most costly alternatives, it really does not inspire confidence that the least risky and/or, most conservative path is followed.

Been to three in villages before I found one I trust. For general dental care I go to Dr jerkins DDS in fruitland park down 441 just before leesburg. He don’t try to up sell, IMO most dentists won’t refill tooth unless is very small. Grind too much away risk crack which most likely lead to root canal. Cap/crown usually the process to save tooth root which has solid foundation or cap/crown. Which can be easily re-glued or replaced and not damage tooth root structure. At least that what I was told 20 years ago and I still have root structure where capped/ crowned.

Thanks for your reply. I see that you have the same sense as I do with regard to solutions. In fact, my dentist up North seem to say the same thing
