Sports Pools
 

We have guests coming this summer. Would the 16 year old be able to use the sports pool to swim laps? She has been on her high school swim team & would like it keep up conditioning.

Sports pools are only for residents. They check id at the sports pools.

Sports pools are also for people over 30 years old so she doesn't meet that criteria also. Sorry.

You might check with The Villages Charter School to see if she could use the school pool.

Technically as a guest she wouldn't be able to but they rarely check ID's at sport pools. If she goes to Mulberry or Lake Miona, for example, early, when they open, she'd probably have to wait for 1/2 hour for a lane, but she'd get one. No one will say anything. Check the rec schedules - there are times for lap swimming listed at the various pools. I would recommend going early before all the aerobics classes get going, plus in the summer it would be cooler. You could also check with the Villages Aquatic Swim Team, and she could probably swim with them at their regular practice - Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday from 10-11:20. PM me and I'll give you a contact number - you'd need to check with the coach beforehand. They are state and national champion swimmers in that group, and its a terrific workout. I'm sure she'd enjoy it.

The Villages and many villagers do not encourage people to swim in swimming pools.
The pools are for walking and talking in!:icon_wink:

So you think it is morally correct to tell people who are not residents to come and break the rules that us residents are paying for?

The Charter School uses the pool at Laurel Manor rec center.

It's really nice of you to advise someone to come here and break the rules, you are probably one of those that don't pick up their dogs poop and have a white cross in your front yard.

I wouldn't say that to those who go to the sports pools to do their laps. Neighborhood pools are for socializing, sports pools are for exercise.

Having a "white cross" in some yards is not a violation. Even though I agree with your thought about those encouraging the breaking of our rules, I do not see how you correlate that idea with those that do not "pick up their dog's poop." That is also a pet peeve of mine, but most dog walkers I have watched, pick up after their dogs. Just saying.

That said, I agree with you that folks should not encourage "trespassing" in residential pools, or for that matter on our pickle ball or tennis courts, bocci ball or shuffle board areas, etc. As far as I am concerned, if one is not paying for the amenity, then they are trespassing. We have rules for these activities to benefit those that reside here and pay for the privilege. One can always pay to enter Disney World...:icon_wink:

If they encourage breaking rules they are most likely breaking rules themselves such as not picking up their dog's poop, etc.

More like they take over most of the residents lap swimming opportunities at Laurel Manor during their swim season.

Our guests with an ID can use the amenities that we pay for. They would not be trespassing.
