Important information on Amenity Funds

Those of you who either don’t know or who believe Lauren Ritchie’s (Orlando Sentinel Columnist) view that TV residents have absolutely no say in what happens with regard to the amenities in TV, should take a look at the latest news article in the September POA Bulletin.

Over the next ten years, the developer will be pumping back some $40 million into the amenities that are north of 466 and the resident elected members of the newly formed Amenity Authority Committee will oversee the distribution of those funds.

I think that this is something that all folks in TV should play close attention to. It’s too important to ignore. Get to know the AAC board member for your district, attend the meetings or at least review their meeting minutes on the AAC website http://www.districtgov.org/aac/aac.aspx

Another deserved vote of confidence to the POA! :clap2:

We need to support their hard work in continuing to publish the facts about life in TV.

I knew it, I knew it

Many feel the developer is a money hungry, selfish, ogre. While I do not know them at all...I think they try to do good by TV and of course they make a profit too.:a040::a040:

But didn't this money become available due to a lawsuit the POA initiated against the developer ? It wasn't like they just handed it over without cause or I am I mistaken here ?

I did not intend to imply that the money was the result of altruistic benevolence on the part of the developer.

It is however a good example of what a few residents were able to do when they felt that the central CDD was spending too much on purchasing amenities from the developer and not enough on repairs and funding of capital reserves. They also challenged the CDD’s position that the multi-modal paths were not amenities and that any repairs/widening would have to be funded by the numbered CDDs.

An out of court settlement has resulted in those funds and the establishment of the resident elected AAC to oversee those funds among other things. One of the first allocations ($6 million) is being used to widen the paths north of 466.
