Garage door cables

During my semi-annual inspection of my garage door found the cables frayed. One was about to break. Ordered some for cost of 6 bucks with free shipping. Took about 25 mins to replace them.

Might want to look at cables occasionally? Mine was probably about 17 years old.

Ok do to some concerns I am not recommending this for the unskilled. Everything don’t have to cost 150 dollars or more if you have the ability?

Yes, but, if you do it yourself, you really need to know how to do it. If not, it can be dangerous.

Hope those ones for 6 bucks actually last. I had some break on a previous home NOT pleasant, actually did some damage. I replaced with cables larger (higher rated) then orginal.

The cable made by company in NE. The price range was 6 bucks to 39 bucks. It’s aircaft quality cables and my garage door is very light. I sure it will last another 15 to 20 years. The cables don’t lift the weight Of the door the springs counter balance the weight.
