Painting Lanai Metal Extrusion

I’m trying to find anyone who had an experience with touching up, restoring, or repainting the bronze color metal extrusion on our lanai’s

We bought a brand new home in Charlotte 7 years ago. Somehow at the time of construction, the builder ended up with a dozen small scratches on the dark bronze aluminum metal around our screened lanai. While not apparent at the time we bought, the builder touched up the metal extrusion with a spray paint. It matched perfectly at that time. Over the last 7 years, the original dark bronze kept its color but the touch up paint that the builder sprayed on in a dozen spots has weathered to a cardboard tan color. It looks terrible. I’m curious if anyone else has had the same issue and how did you overcome it? Sure would appreciate any experiences out there to help me fix this issue.

We have not had a problem like yours but I know you can get the matching paint at Lowes. It's called Bertha Extrusion Spray Paint, Extrusion Medium Bronze. I used it to paint a metal pole which holds a weather station up above our birdcage. Its a very close match to the rest of the birdcage. Perhaps you can just repaint the faded bits of yours. Mine is about 2 years old and no fading yet.

I repainted most of my bronze metal with a matching spray paint from TD supply on 301 a few years ago.
I sprayed thru the screening but masked at floor level.
Worked great

I agree with above, I used a bronze spray paint to match an additional electrical box I added to the birdcage to control LED lights, and it still matches after 5 years. I am guessing the original installer used a very low quality paint. Get a high quality and you should be good to go. I MAY still have the paint from 5 years ago (from ACE hardware as I recall), if you want the specific brand, let me know.

Thanks Villagetinker. I never thought of Ace. I’ll give it a try.

I took a look in the garage, and it appears I used Rustoleum spray paint.

Call The Villages warranty department. They have records of everything that was used on your house. They will tell you the exact paint color and brand that was used to touch up the metal on your lanai.

Try Sherwin Williams paint stores.

Villages Warranty Department

The suggestion to contact The Villages Warranty Department is a good one. They have the details on every single house or villa built in TV by lot number and section available for exactly this type of question.

Okay thanks. I can get that at Ace or Lowe’s!

Dzurinko 04-04-2021 07:47 AM

Good point! Thanks.
