Donating Appliances

We just bought a new dishwasher, fridge and washer/dryer, mainly because we don't like the quality of the GE appliances that the builder picked out for us. The old stuff is less than a year old. Does anyone know a good charity that would be willing to pick up some of this stuff on very short notice (excepting the dishwasher I'm sure)?

god bless you for donating, myself I'm 6 years into my GE appliances and they have performed flawlessly, i won't be back in TV for a few more weeks otherwise i would take them off your hands....gn

I am post nine years with my GE appliances and they have performed admirably. I do not know what people have against GE.

But if I was donating, habitat for humanity would be my choice.

I'd guess that if you had a recent vintage GE appliance you may not have as good luck. They make them cheaper every year. We have had someone out 4 times for our refrigerator which is less than 2 years old. One time the repair guy was here we had him replace the water filter since he was offering a special deal if you buy from the service guy. Good thing we did, because when he went to take out the old one, water started spraying all over the refrigerator. Turns out the valve that was supposed to automatically close when the filter is removed failed. The only way to stop the flood was to pull the refrigerator away from the wall and turn the valve off at the wall.

I wondered about the same thing. The original GE appliances in our seven-year-old TV home, which we purchased as a resale last year, all all work fine so far, knock on wood. Does anyone else think that the more recent GE appliances are not as good as the older ones? I really don't know the answer, but I'm curious what others have experienced.

I don't really think the GE stuff is inferior. The fact that the developer uses GE exclusively means that there are thousands of GE appliances in TV. Therefore when an appliance fails it will be a GE. But that's because they are the only appliances here. One failure in a few thousand installations is not a problem.

That's just my Opinion.

Donating what a great idea.

Also consider donating to 'Helping Hands' a wonderful
local organization that works to provide housing close to our area. They find very needy families and replace or renovate homes and furnish them as a
turnkey. They can be reached via the Methodist church near 466. 352 750 4529. They are currently working at two locations near Wildwood and always
need furnishings.

Bless you
