Location of Lanai

Considering purchasing a house in TV. I want a lanai but where should it be located? Do you prefer your lanai in the front or back of the house and why?

Welcome to TOTV ---When you purchase a home you can decide more or less which way your Lanai faces buy choosing the lot that suits you but I am almost positive --all are in the rear of the homes

Good Luck

We stayed in a patio villa on our first lifestyle visit. The lanai was in the front.

Some Clarification?

Only Patio Villas have them in the front, Cottage Homes have them on the side and Courtyard Villas and Designer Homes have them in the back. There was 1 Designer that had a wrap around lanai---I think it was a Mandevilla. Really you don't have that option of location it comes with the type of home you buy.

You also will want to consider which direction the lanai faces. Do you want morning sun on the lanai? Or afternoon sun? If the lanai faces south you will get a lot of sun. Ours faces northeast which gives us shade in the pm, a little cooler.

Dont let anyone kid you, The Sun especially the late afternoon, evening sun in the summer, is really hot, so plan accordingly.

Another thing to consider is the position of the sun will move substantially in the winter compared to the summer. While still setting in the west (even in TV), a Summer sun will be more to the north while a winter sun will be more to the south. The difference is definitely noticeable when considering how the sun will impact your Lanai or even family room TV viewing.
