Hardwood floors with pool

We will be building in Buttonwood next year and plan to put in a pool. I know that tile would be the most practical flooring. However, we really like the new hardwood that is being offered. Has anyone had experience as to how the hardwood would hold up with possible water drippings from users coming into the house? Do they have a special protective coating?

We have had hardwood floors in our kitchen in Ohio for twenty years. AND I cook in that kitchen, which means slop daily with bits of things falling to the floor, and a little coffee spilled as I try to carry three cups, a splat of something when I raid the fridge at night etc.etc.etc. I almost have as much liquid on that floor as a couple of people walking wet/ damp from the pool.

They look great, just like new. I wipe up my accidents with water and soap, wash them all over with water and vinegar about once every other month, vacuum them in between times and use a liquid called Quick Shine (for hardwood floors) a couple of times a year. Even if an ice cube melts and we don't catch it, it doesn't leave a spot like it would on furniture. But, I am not sure about the added bleach in pool water.

Just for you to think about. They are so pretty.

As a retired floor man, would not recommend it, wood and water do not mix, wood is a nutural product, which means it will swell with moisture, plus as Gracie said, the chlorine in the pool could also affect it, I have seen wood floors rise up off the floor with water, has to have somewhere to go.

I have owned a pool for many years and had a wood deck around it. I can tell you for sure the wood does not stand up to the chemicals in the pool. I found that only none slip tiles would work and last. the grout will need to be treated once a year.
