Bill Mahar tests positive for COVID

HBO's Bill Mahar has tested positive for COVID at his weekly testing prior to taping this week's show.

Bill is fully vaccinated and is asymptomatic. He is expected to fully recover.

I guess this points out that vaccines are not 100% effective in preventing getting COVID, but are supposed to be close to 100% effective in preventing dying from it.

He's most likely in the 5th percentile where the vaccine had no effect.

According to the World Health Organization, infected people can transmit the virus both when they have symptoms and when they don't have symptoms. This is why it is important that all people who are infected are identified by testing, isolated, and, depending on the severity of their disease, receive medical care.

I would be very interested in your source for saying people who are vaccinated can not spread the Virus.

I'll answer that for him---the source is the CDC. And it is based on 5,318 breakthrough cases among 85 million vaccinated for 0.008%. That number may have been recently revised to 9,000 breakthrough cases among 180 million vaccinated which would be 0.005% or 1 in 20,000 vaccinated people who could get and/or spread COVID. And none of those people died. Pretty good considering 24 people/year die from champagne corks!

So for the 99th time, I wish people would STOP posting that vaccinated individuals can get and spread COVID

I wish people would quit saying you can't.

This is a DIRECT quote from CDC - your source:

"Although COVID-19 vaccines are effective at keeping you from getting sick, scientists are still learning how well vaccines prevent you from spreading the virus that causes COVID-19 to others, even if you do not have symptoms. Early data show that vaccines help keep people with no symptoms from spreading COVID-19, but we are learning more as more people get vaccinated."

It is not a FACT yet, they are still learning.

Correct - so far 135 out of 95 Million.

Fully vaccinated only means both shots....

And what date was that quote from?? Out of the 8 NY Yankees, seven were asymptomatic and the eighth recovered in 4 DAYS. Personally, I trust what GE says and what my own research digs up before the CDC's pronouncements.

I am sorry, my quote is from TODAY. Minutes ago.

Please don't say things you don't know. It may well be that the advice was first posted by CDC 3 months ago, but it is still the current advice.

I provided a quote, you provided an interpretation - do you have more current information you can link to, or are you just yelling at people you disagree with.

Here is the link I used, it was updated 2 days ago, and the quote is from that page. No one has yet provided a link or reference to support the claim the vaccinated can not spread COVID.

or how about:

CDC: '''Breakthrough rate''' of COVID-19 cases in fully-vaccinated people is 0.008%

You seem to find a lot of "sources", but only those that agree with your erroneous opinion :rotfl:
