American Airlines New Vaccinated Requirement

Flying with American Airlines? Get your vaccine card ready.

On Thursday, the Fort Worth-based carrier announced that it’s adding a vaccine passport capability to its health passport mobile app, Verifly. Flyers can now securely upload their CDC vaccination card before a trip, which will then be verified and processed before departure.

A customer may be required by a local destination to have proof of a COVID-19 immunization. American will confirm the customer has documents required by their destination’s local government before they board the plane.

This will ensure there are no falsified vaccine credentials on any AA flights.

As AA is based in Texas, it follows Texas law.

As countries continue to set standards for COVID-19 vaccination requirements, VeriFLY will integrate those standards into its verification processes.

Newsroom - American Airlines Customers Can Now Choose Convenient Vaccine Verification Option in VeriFLY - American Airlines Group, Inc.

So, I guess this is the beginning.......

Wonder how long before everyone else does it?

Sounds like a joke. Just another excuse for me to stay home. I suppose each state will eventually have it's own passport/ID papers that you have to show upon entering their state. Can't wait.
On the other hand, went to Walmart yesterday and there was no mask sign and very few folks are wearing a mask now. Works for me. Now, if they can just find a better way for those big shoppers carts to stay out of the way and still manage to shop for those too scared to enter the store. Glad to see folks employed though, so I wish them well. Retirement is great, because delays and holdups in my shopping no longer bothers me. No other place that I have to be in a hurry.
Airlines want proof of vaccination? How about proof of booster shots? Don't worry folks, you can still get on the plane with the Flu.

I am reading bad reviews of the VeriFLY app.

This is offered as a convenience by AA. Good!

I’m against the vaccine passport thing - this seems like a convenience if your destination requires vaccines (i.e. the EU). It’s not a requirement to fly AA.

Ill bet some Caribbean islands will require vaccines soon.

I am very much in favor of having a proof of vaccination and people being required to have one to fly. I just don't want the verification to be in the form of an app. Why does everything have to be through an app. I am not surgically attached to my phone. How about we just get a government issued verification card similar to a drivers license, or better yet the verification can be linked to ones TSA pre-check account?

Great in theory, but not everyone has TSA pre-check. And consider the logistical nightmare of getting 330 million cards out there? Just when the last person gets his/hers, then the boosters will come along. Then you have all the problems that come along with a "vaccine passport"---4th amendment rights, HIPPA, those who are allergic, religious objectors, etc.

To easy to loose a card so maybe a special tattoo or mark will do in future with all records available.

Good point, I saw on the news last night that Moderna is working on a booster that could possibly be available as soon as September.

It’s just a convenient way to travel to a country that requires visitors be vaccinated. It’s not American Airlines requiring the proof of vaccination. It has nothing to do with domestic flights.

Never mind proof of vaccine. How about proof for Antibodies? The vaccine gives a false sense of protection. Know if you have Antibodies your immune system is working to protect you. Personally it is each persons right to vaccinate or not.

Petersweeney 05-22-2021 05:35 AM

It’s not a vaccination, they are taking your DNA for those recently spotted alien aircraft......lmao
