Rain Gutters on Lanai?
 

During a hard rain (like we had yesterday), the rain comes off the lanai roof and I end up with water on the floor of the lanai by the screen because the water doesn't come straight down off the roof. It is flung somewhat towards the screen and comes thru the screen. Do those of you that have rain gutters on the lanai roof still end up with water on the lanai floor?

I am only interested on putting the rain gutters on the lanai (less than 40 feet total). Does anyone have recommendations for installers if I decide it may help? We are new to the Villages and don't have much experience dealing with contractors here.

We put gutters all the way around and the lanai stays much drier now. A lot of the wetness previously was where the runoff splashed up from the ground which is totally gone with gutters.

We had our gutters installed by Stipes five years ago and they did an excellent job.

We used Hill's for our gutters. Keep in mind that even with gutters, and depending on the winds during a rainstorm, your lanai will flood

We used M & M a few years ago to install gutters and it was only $400 for whole house.
Definitely worth it.

Rain gutters-just a reminder, you need to have a place to put the water that goes down the downspout. Water through the screen, it may have to do with wind direction.
A hurricane, at times it is like being under a waterfall.

Gutters definitely help. BUT depending on which way the wind blows during a rainstorm/hurricane, the lanai still gets water. Not much you can do about that, other than installing windows.

Hills is hands down the Best ! They are fair and will not gouge you , like the other gutter companies. They did me right! You also need to have them look at why you are getting water in your Lanai.. I just reread your Post, I made the mistake of assuming you had windows..LOL

The OP certainly did ask about that...don't be so snippy.

Gutters will help, but your lanai is still going to get wet depending on which direction the wind/rain is coming from. We had Stipes install our gutters, and they did a great job at a fair price. The gutters do lessen the amount of water that comes into the lanai, but will not eliminate it completely.

A concern for you may be that you are seeking a pretty small job. Contractors are all very busy now, and it may be tough to find one willing to take a small job. Perhaps they could squeeze you in at the end of a day. Also, don't put much stock in what someone says they paid more than a year ago. Materials costs have gone up, and what you will pay today will be much different.

Depending on wind direction, water is always going to get on the lanai.

If the wind is blowing, it will blow the rain directly into the Lanai screen and your floor will get wet. Gutters (which we have) will not help. We put electric shades on all sides so when we're expecting heavy rain, we lower them and the Lanai floor stays dry.

We have the same problem and have thought about adding gutters but in the mean time we put in white marble rocks and it has made an improvement. It has been a year with the rocks and it has helped.
