Lost sound on my HP laptop
I updated drivers using CCleaner and now I have no sound coming out of my internal speakers. Windows troubleshooter says I have a corrupted sound driver and it is unable to correct it. I can't seem to update it. Any suggestions?

Agree with the steps above. If those don't work consider installing the free version of "Driver Booster" and running it. I have used it successfully for several years on more than one computer.

Instead of fix-it tools, Windows 10 uses troubleshooters to help you solve problems with your PC. To run a troubleshooter:
Select Start > Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot, |
Go to LinuxMint.com, download Linux Mint ISO , download Etcher to put Linux Mint on to a thumb drive.
Boot off the thumb drive and test Linux Mint, if you don't have a hardware problem, you should hear sound. |

I have had this trouble using Malwarebytes in the past.

HP has excellent diagnostic software that comes with the machine.
