WOW I75 Traffic to / from Ocala is awful.

Just made to trip to Ocala and the traffic to and from Ocala was Awful - bumper to bumper and average speed most of time under 30mph. If you planning a trip there I'd suggest leaving early or going up 301 (not sure if its any better since I was on I75). I wonder if it's the 4th of July visitors. I've never experienced it this bad. The weren't any obvious reason for the slow movement (no accident etc.). In Ocala Sam's some of the people we talked to said its becoming more of the norm.

As a side note the pavement on Rt 44 is becoming rough in spots. Especially Turning from Buena Vista to 44, but there are a few other areas.

We drive to Gainesville once or twice a month. Always avoid first week and last week of the month for appointments. If we don’t that drive time tripled.

But July 10th has me stumped, unless there was an accident somewhere north. Coming back from Gainesville one Wednesday all lanes were stopped, moving inches every 20 minutes. Onstar verified an accident on 75, we took next exit. We were home, 75 had still not cleared, it was a multiple fatal accident.

Why is the traffic heavier during those two weeks? Just curious ...

Google maps shows there is a crash on i75N with everything backed up behind it. no other details given.

Get use to it, I find traffic horrible all way to Atlanta, then it branches off in all directions.

Had to go to Gainesville few times to dog hospital, one time I came back 441. It was few miles shorter, but 15 to 20 mins longer drive time. Was more pleasant drive and different scenery.

I-75 Traffic is horrible all the time

Always use a traffic aware navigation device(I prefer Waze), even if you know exactly how to get somewhere. When it directs you OFF your chosen route, believe it. The supercomputer knows best, even if it won't open the pod bay door.

I go to the VA Hospital in Gainsville several times a month, and from here to Ocala, it can be slow, especially with an accident, which seems to happen often. From Ocala to Gainesville is not too bad, traffic is normally heavy but moves well. From Gainesville to Lake City (I10 interchange) traffic is lighter and still moves along. It is the way it is, get used to it, or use US 27 or 441 and deal with the traffic lights.

We went to Ocala around 1:00 today. Nightmare traffic in both directions with no visible accidents either way. Went home 441/27/301 since Waze said that would be 18 minutes faster. When I head up there to Hobby Lobby, I always avoid I-75 but husband did the driving today.

we have used Waze for years. It has helped us avoid traffic snarls numerous times.

as a seasonal resident of TV, I thought the congestion along those roads was due to the winter migration. If it's that bad in July, I can't imagine what it will be like in January.

Was just in Ocala on Friday.....took 301 all the way. No problems

That's exactly why this post exists? You're asking the same question the purpose of this post! Ugh 😩
