Revive burnt grass

Please How do you revive burnt grass?

If all this rain has not revived it then sod is in your future.

According to my lawn guy aeration is your friend.

If it is Empire Zoysia, just water it.

One of our sprinkler heads was not working right so one part of our yard was totally brown. We watered it and now it looks great.

If it is St. Augustine, you may have to replace it.

From what I understand, Zoysia has deep runners and they are still alive even it the grass is brown. St. Augustine has runners close to the surface, so if the grass is brown, the runners may be dead as well.

Scheduled my St Augustine for sod. Thanks all

Re: new sod
First you want to discover why original grass died and solve the problem. Our,"soil," in most of the Villages is sandy clay with a lot of limestone in it PH 7-8. Grass wants 6.5.
It is wise to test your,"soil," and improve it. Cooperative extension is very helpful.

There is no shortage of people to sell us something. Some of it is partly true. Some of it is well superstition.

Used to be a TV, television not the villages, ad showing them growing grass on cement. It can be done but it is far easier on proper soil.

I am perhaps a soil hugger. Our soil is sandy clay with a high PH. Most cases the solution is to add organic matter. It takes far more than most people want to believe.
Throwing it down on top of the grass does nothing good but many do it. Organic matter is slighter than sand or clay. There is nothing to bring it into the soil.

Our lawn guy did the aeration yesterday. Since he owned the attachment no extra cost. Plans to fertilize next week and we will see how well this works.

If not our lawn guy will become our previous one.

So how do you bring the organic matter into the soil other than ripping out your grass and starting over?

By spraying, with a hose end, humid acid and kelp. Watch YouTube.
