Water Volleyball.

I've heard there was/is/are water volleyball groups or clubs in The Villages; however, haven't been able to find any information on who to contact. I've done searches and only come up with "chair" volleyball clubs. Would appreciate any info anyone has on a pool/water volleyball. I've also posted this question in nextdoor in my neighborhood. Thank you (I'm new here in TV so still trying to figure out everything).

There is training for water volleyball ever Friday at the Colony rec center 3:00-5:00. There you can learn the basics, or if you are an experienced volleyball player, you can take a more advanced class.

You didn't say how experienced you are.

If you're new attend WVB 101 at Colony Rec Center Friday from 3 to 5. Call them first to confirm.

Now pick up a copy of the Rec News. Look in the Sports Pool Schedule section.

Seabreeze pool has outstanding Organized Basic events four times a week: Fri, Sat, Sun from 1 to 3, and Tuesday from 3 to 5. They also do a fun evening game Mon from 6 to 8.

The Single Baby Boomers play basic at Everglades from 1 to 3 on Sunday that is open to all.

If you're an Intermediate player just check the Rec News, too. You're looking for Organized Intermediate.

WVB here in TV is a blast! See ya in the pool!!!

THANKS!!!! I'll give them a call. I'm experienced on sand volleyball, but haven't played water which seems like a cooler version in this FL heat.

THANK YOU! Appreciated info. I'll probably want to start out basic or take a lesson. I'm a "sand" or indoor player vs water (have never played in the water so I'm sure there are different techniques, etc.).

Just show up at Colony at 3:00. You do not need to reserve a spot. The Advanced group plays 1:00-3:00 and members of Advanced teach the classes after they play. We will ask you questions about your experience in order to put you in the correct group.
There are differences between water, sand and court ball, and this is a good way to learn them.
Let me know if you have any questions.

I think you will be bored if you are used to sand and indoor. Not much movement or physical play. Just my 2 cents.

Have you actually played and at what level?

outside the sports pools are a list of activities/times for the pool . OR get a rec news and towards the back is a list of all sports pools and their activities and times. Your best bet is to join basic first and take the class at Colony. Sand VB is different than WVB. Also, sign up to the facebook page the villages watervollyball group

I go to the basic play at Everglades- Sunday, Monday and Friday 1 - 3. No need to call ahead - just show up. They will group the first timers together to gauge your play then put you out with the rest of the players. Tons of fun!

a written package should be given to every new resident - how to navigate, locations what they do, etc

Everglades sports pool in Marsh Bend has basic WVB on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, and Friday at 1-3pm, and Thursday 3-5pm.

Send me your contact info (name, email address) by private message to be added to the email list.

As mentioned in an earlier comment, it is basic, and newbies are grouped together to learn the basics. No teams, but effort is made each day to balance the players.

Definitely a lot of fun on a hot day.

Find a basic water volleyball group in the rec newsletter that you can pick up at the rec centers. Play with them for awhile and if you feel you want a more advanced play after playing there then move up to an intermediate level play. It’s a lot of fun 😊

I'm a new resident, and all I was given was a phone book and my log-in ID for tee times. So, if anyone in charge of recreation is reading this, a better "orientation" procedure is necessary!

La Hacienda has water volleyball every Sunday from 1 to 3. It is a basic group just having fun. There is no need to join…just show up.
