is there a bicycle store near the villages. we want to get 2 bikes. just getting back in biking so need the greatest ones.

Village Cycles in La Plaza Grande - down from Publix. They are great people to deal with. Highly recommend.

Santos on 466 is also a very good bike shop. Oddly enough, Wal-Mart actually has some decent beginning bikes for less than $100.

I was led to believe Santos isn't around anymore.Is this true?:confused:

Santos also had a shop on the north side of Belleview by the Santos Bike Trail.

From what I saw, Village Bikes in La Plaza Grande are off brand Chinese bikes (Santos is name brand Chinese bikes). I was sooo po'ed when I saw that my Trek bike was made in China. Buying a Wal-Mart bike is a waste of (a small amount of) money. Maybe Dick's Sporting Goods in Ocala might be a bit better than Wally World.

Village Cycle carries Townies which are the most popular comfort bikes that I know of - I don't know where they are made. I don't know if they are still called Townies - I bought mine years ago. I just bought a Catrike from them which is made right here in Winter Garden. The Catrike factory has a huge rally in the spring every year. I wouldn't say that Townie and Catrike are off brands.

Does anyone know if Village Cycle has any good Black Friday Sales? I am heading to the Villages starting right before Thanksgiving and wanted to pick up a commuter bike from them.

Most of the stores in or around the Villages have Black Friday sales which is usually the Friday after Thanksgiving. I don't know about any other Friday

I saw a nice pair of Sun Easy-3 tricycles for sale on this site for what looked like a reasonable price - send note to "tootiefruity"

The bicycle shop in Spanish Springs has top of the line bikes also. They have Felt Bikes wich are very good. Santos did close the shop on 466, the shop on 441 just north of Belleview is still open. They have good bikes also. There is a Trek Store in Ocala, Or David's World Cycle has many stores in the Orlando Area. That is where I got my Madone..
Most of the top of the line Tour Bikes are made overseas, except the top of the line models some of them Manufactures are still made in other places. Some of Trek 6.9ssl are still made in Wis.
