The Five Best Sentences You'll Ever Read.

These are possibly the 5 best sentences you'll ever read:
1. You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity, by legislating the wealth out of prosperity.
2. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving.
3, The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else.
4. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it.
5. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work, because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that my dear friend, is the beginning of the end of any nation.

Remember November 2!!

We are very close to number 5 right now. I took early retirement for that very reason. I had to take more furlough days this year than my staff because I "earn" more. My taxes rose every year. I took the deal and now I am a leach on society. Thank you Thank you. JJ

A lot of sense in those sentences!
We are almost reaching a point in this country whereby it is no longer cost effective to strive for a career that pays well. How very sad.

" Redistributing the wealth in this country",--- where have I heard that before?
What about 1 thru 5 doesn't this current administration understand?

These actually sound like quotes Ronald Reagan would have made. 37 days until election day. Time to begin taking back this country.

You think it's bad in the US? Try over here in Europe. I've been hearing people in London and Paris saying much the same thing (though Paris has a bit of a different sentiment - they don't mind the taxes, they just don't like how the money is being spent).

Believe me, we care how our money is spent djplong as well as the taxes being taken from us. We worked hard for our money and now we are to give it away to less motivated people. Disadvantaged? I think not. While we were in college getting our degrees and working 2-3 jobs to support our extravagant life styles (no sleep and loads of coffee and studying for exams) they were out having a good time spending everything they had on entertainment. If you don't work for something, it doesn't mean anything to you and handouts from the government are just entitlements that should be worked for.

Remember the story about the grasshopper and the ant?

I didn't mean to infer that we didn't care how it's spent here in the US (got back 2 days ago). Just that the Parisians I talked to didn't seem to mind the taxation level. (Whereas we OBVIOUSLY give a damn about it here)

When conversing with Europeans about taxation and compensation

it does require going into some of their personal details to understand why they say what ever they do say.

For example, Belgium has a very socialist type government and taxes for some can be as high as 70%!!!
A "way around" the taxation for some business folks is to have a car provided including all the gasoline and servicing and a replacement every two years.
This is just one example of how some work around the high taxation environments. There are as many creative "schemes" as there are individuals.

Whether they achieve parity with other lower tax environments, I have no idea. What I do know is those I knew with such arrangements lived extremely well in Europe.
