Mandates for thee but not for me

The mayor of DC reimposed a indoor mask mandate for everyone over the age of two yesterday, no exceptions, $1000 fine, effective yesterday July 31.

Here she is at a wedding reception she officiated, with hundreds of other maskless guests yesterday, July 31.

Anyone else getting tired of the dual standards on mandates?

It looks like there were two different events - one occurring before the mandate went into effect, and the other after it went into effect.

According to several sites including one of the local DC fox news websites, she was maskless for the event on Friday which was some shindig for her birthday with Dave Chappell - and there was a wedding the next day, when people wore masks at the reception except when they were eating/drinking.

Perhaps the photo is of the previous night's events. The Examiner doesn't even mention who took the photo. Serious journalistic pieces always credit the photographer, unless it's "stock," in which case they state that it's stock.

It certainly looks to me like they are sitting and eating. And I don't see how one can eat with the mask on... but, I guess it can be done.

But, whatever, let's point fingers, call names, and yell at eat other while Americans are dying.

What do you mean? Sure they can! Last summer during the lock down the governor of CA suggested people eat while wearing a mask, pulling it up and down between bites of food. And then he was caught on camera mask-less, dining with lobbyists at a very expensive French restaurant in the Napa Valley.

Quoted: But in response to a report in the Washington Examiner that accused her of violating the mask mandate, Bowser’s office denied that she was breaking the rule. The event was mostly outside, where the mandate does not require people to be masked, and the mayor was unmasked inside while dining, Bowser’s office said in a statement.
The Examiner cited a picture of an unmasked Bowser seated at a table with glasses on it. It was not clear whether Bowser had just eaten or drunk something when the picture was taken.
“The mask mandate is for indoor settings (excluding while eating and drinking) and does not apply to outdoor settings,” the office said, while confirming that Bowser did officiate the wedding Saturday. “The Mayor wore a mask indoors in compliance with the mandate.”

Maybe yes, maybe no. She is “at a table” and likely still drinking something I would bet. Guess that was the only photo they could get that fit their story line?

I wonder if she is wearing socks. I expect she isn't and that is disgusting.

And this is what we are worried about, while fellow Americans are dying.

What is the purpose of these discussions? Pointing fingers solves nothing. Read the room . People are dying.

Because politicians are hypocrites.

Who cares.

What we have here is a world of people who only care about their world and themselves. I am vaccinated, wear my mask, (I find it annoying)…but I know one thing for sure. I would rather be part of the solution instead of the problem.

another example of the raging hypocrisy and lies of "one side of the spectrum." it's a daily thing. Can post TONS of posts about certain leaders who imposed draconian rules on their citizens but are photographed maskless all over the place. I think that's what the post is about - hypocrisy

whether not masking when you're demanding others do. Or hiring private security when you want to defund the Police...etc etc.

What I am getting tired of is all of the insanity, divisiveness and arguments surrounding this virus. Yes, people are dying, and people have been dying, and people will continue to die, everyday. Nothing that is said, especially on social media, is going to change anyone's mind regarding Covid procedures. Live and let live, or, live and let die. Like the Beatles said, many years ago, "Wisper words of Wisdom, 'LET IT BE'"

Control. I'm sure our leaders are laughing as they pull the strings. No trust in anything they say.
