Has Anyone Received ARC Approval for Aluminum Patio Cover

There are some great (and hurricane proof) wood grain aluminum insulated panels out there. Very custom look with internal wiring for ceiling fans and lights. I know aluminum Pergolas can get approval but have never seen aluminum Patio Covers. (I know some can look like carports but I am talking about a much better cover.) Just curious before I even attempt to write up an application.

Actually wondering this myself. Would like to expand the lanai, still have screen 'walls' but would like to be out of the rain (mostly).

You can ask your ARC, call them, they are the only ones that can answer if you can do that in your area.

Approval

We had a question regarding the permissibility of a change to the outside of our house maybe 5 years ago. When we called, they would not give us an answer. They said make a formal application and the powers that be would let us know. We just wanted an answer so that we would not have to do an application if it was not permitted.

Interesting, I guess that actually makes sense. Because if someone on the phone says yes, and you apply and get turned down - well, I can imagine that would cause some "issues"...

My, bad, thanks for clarifying that

We had the Pergola Kings install a “Santa Fe” pergola, which is really a solid roof screen porch, made of aluminum. At one time they were the only company that had ARC approval to build something like this, not sure if that is still the case. This was fully approved, permitted, and inspected. We are extremely pleased with the results.

It's not a big deal to file an ARC application. You can get the form online, fill in what you plan to do and send it in. If rejected, you can take a trip down there and talk to them about it. I did that (notably without success) and it was a pretty simple process.

And they should'nt give an answer over the phone. Anyone who would accept a yes or no by phone, is foolish.

Fill out the application (which is super easy) and submit it.

That looks way better than the flat aluminum roof I was thinking of, thanks for sharing!

Just wondering how loud those aluminum roofs are when it rains.
