Old gasoline disposal
 

I am in the process of selling a car, and I had to drain the old gasoline to get it started.

I am looking for ideas to get rid of about 4 gallons of old stale gasoline, I am not interested in burning, pouring down the drain, etc. tI might be useable in small engines, not sure and it could possibly be mixed with new gas for small engines, however I do not have any equipment that is gasoline engine driven.

Any ideas?

I assume it is in a gasoline container. Many auto repair places accept oil, but I do not know about gasoline, it may be too flammable for them to handle safely.

If I owned ICE lawn equipment I would hesitate to use old fuel. They require enough maintenance without that.

I guess I would call a number on hazardous waste removal/disposal. Most counties have them.

I was under a really big misunderstanding and did not realize we have access to year-round hazardous waste disposal. I found the number, and the site is located in Sumterville and does accept old gasoline at no cost. I will be dropping it off later this week.
Hazardous waste site: 819 County Road 529 (according to GMaps Sumterville 33585) accoriding to Sumter County (Lake Panashofsky?) 8 to 4 pm Tuesday to Saturday, apparently no local phone number.

The devil is in the details. Old stale gasoline? Drain the tank and only four gallons in it?
Had to drain the tank to start car? Sounds like water in the gas and rust in the tank.

Actually lots of RUST, old car had components not rated for the new ethanol fuel, after 2-3 years lots of rusted ;parts holding the level sensor, the fuel pump and the strainer. Surprisingly the actual fuel tank is in perfect condition. The opening was large enough that I could actually get my arm inside to actually wipe down the entire tank (good news) now I spell like a gas station (bad news). All new parts due in 1 - 2 days, should be good to go with fresh gas.

in your cars, you have something like 16 gallons or so, mix in a gallon with each of the next few fill ups and it will be fine,

First treat it with Sta-bil. Ace hardware likely has it. Also strain that old stuff.

Give Tuffy a call, they will advise.

Worst case take the drive up to Baseline, there is a hazardous waste recovery there.
It is on the right when you drive in on the access road. Before the scales for large bulk drop off.

That 86 have a rubber bladder? That's the only thing that saved the tank in my '78 Pace Car.
Btw, did you mention you swapped out the fuel filter??

So, What is the Telephone number for the hazardous waste site?

With flammables, gas, mineral sprits etc. I would pour a quart at a time on my concrete driveway. Dries away in minutes.
