Spondylolisthesis L4 & L5 Surgery

Has anyone had spinal fusion one the two vertebra of the L4 & L5? How long was your recovery time before you were pain free. I have shooting pain down my leg & into my foot. Thank You PS Who did your surgery?.

My wife had L4-L5 fusion in 2017. Her recovery time was a minimum 12 weeks and as I recall very "uncomfortable." It helped the nerve pain and weakness in her leg. It took awhile for the nerve to heal after being pinched for so long. She does recommend having the surgery to reduce the pain. Prior to the surgery she had a spinal cord stimulator and took several narcotic Rx's for pain. The stimulator has been removed and she no longer takes the chronic pain meds.

Greetings -
First, I am not providing any medical guidance what so ever to your particular situation and you should consult with a competent physician regarding your medical question. That being said, talk to your surgeon regarding either a Discectomy or a Laminectomy. Either procedure "may" accomplish the same as your spinal fusion and the recovery time is only weeks versus months.
Dependent upon your medical insurance, check with Shand's Hospital in Gainesville for a competent neurosurgeon. Additionally, Baptist Hospital in Miami has a great team of neurosurgeons. Good Luck
