Reducing air pollution or SMOG

I recall my first trips to LA of seeing a yellow haze in the air called smog. Was also evident elsewhere. This is mostly gone now due to clean air efforts which is good for our lungs.
However, I have read in a copy of National Geographic that the cleaner air allows more sunlight to reach the earth and water which helps to raise the global temperature.

Did not see any mention of how much raise in temperature, but as discussions of global warming continue, it would seem that this impact should be acknowledged. Still caused by humankind even if reversing a previous negative impact.

It’s has to be global effort, if not it’s futile. We came along ways and set the standard, now it’s time for other countries to step up. If not we can’t do it alone know matter how much we go green ( everything green made out of fossil fuels and industrial mining using fossil fuels) raise standards, or think taxing going to work.

Millions of tons of CO2 released in 2019.

1.China, with more than 10,065 million tons of CO2 released.
2.United States, with 5,416 million tons of CO2
3.India, with 2,654 million tons of CO2
4.Russia, with 1,711 million tons of CO2
5.Japan, 1,162 million tons of CO2
6.Germany, 759 million tons of CO2
7.Iran, 720 million tons of CO2
8.South Korea, 659 million tons of CO2
9.Saudi Arabia, 621 million tons of CO2
10.Indonesia, 615 million tons of CO2

When will they stop all the burning in FL? Clear, burn and coat TVs with smoke. More pollution than a '55 chevy.

And Mexico? Probably half of USA CO2 probably blowing across southwest border. IMO few of the countries on list are lying.

My lord....im still worries about what scientists and geiologists told us in the 1970s..

We are due for a new Ice Age..

And we will run out of oil soon...

Guess i better move up and worry in the next few years that Florida will be underwater.

And your mom dresses you funny.

I am terrified that they will be coming for our gas Golf Carts.

They will be reading about us stranded somewhere South of Fenney.

These numbers are meaningless, from number 5 on down these are countries that aren't any where near our population size and manufacturing capacity. Naturally their tons of CO2 are going to be lower.

Don't shoot me. I am just the messenger.
Get on to the world enviroment agencies, and tell them their numbers are meaningless.
However, in the top 5 'big boys' you are still number two.

So let's divide the CO2 by the population and see what happens:

China 10,065 1,439 7
USA 5,416 331 16
India 2,654 1,380 2
Russia 1,711 146 12
Japan 1,162 126 9
Germany 759 84 9
Iran 720 84 9
South Korea 659 51 13
Saudi Arabia 621 35 18
Indonesia 615 274 2

Ah yes, Saudi Arabia produces slightly more than the USA so we're off the hook

Get real, people. Global warming is the biggest threat facing mankind, not Covid or dog poop on your lawn, so quit being a denier and start doing something for the next generations.

Bay Kid 08-07-2021 09:26 AM

Nobody seems to care about all the burning? Big pollution.

Don't know many at all who deny the globe is warming and climate is changing. Don't know many at all who can change it with the methods at hand.
Don't know many at all that can fly in a jet plane to Paris and hand over a lot of money so people can......WHAT?

Industry all over the globe is the culprit. The same industry that has halved poverty and hunger since 1990.

Not an easily solved problem...but;

Every little bit helps the old lady said as she peed in the sea.

Lol. No it isn't. Pure political opinion

*yawn*...no we do...

not cause global warming or climate change. We do on the other hand pollute rivers, streams, lakes, oceans and the country side.

There is actually no proof that humans can affect the climate of a planet this size and the 1 or 2 degree increase we "might" see overall is just the planet doing its normal aging.

Find real scientists who study the planets history and they will readily admit that what sort of climate the planet will develop in the next century is a complete mystery.

If you believe those quacks who claim humans to be the root cause of what's happening to our planet check their political affiliation and credentials. You'll find they've changed their minds as often as the seasons change. Their claims aren't based on any scientific data that can show a climate change caused by us and not the natural planets aging.

Does that mean we shouldn't aim for sustainable, pollution free living? No, of course not. But is does mean you use what you actually can prove and not some pipe dream to fulfill your own desire to make a difference that isn't actual.

You want to make a difference? Be kind to yourself and others. Stop trying to shove ideas and ideologies down others throats by using guilt and passing laws that have no basis in fact, but do in fact cause some to acquire the power over other peoples lives using false narratives and information that some choose to believe because it gives their lives a false sense of meaning.
