Car dealer advertising

Just curious why people leave car dealer advertising on their autos? License plate frames and company stickers on the rear of the car/truck. These are the first thing removed when I buy a vehicle.

I agree. I tell the dealer to remove the decal before I will take delivery.

We allow them to leave it on only if they pay us a one time flat rate advertising fee of $20,000. So far, no takers.

DAIII 08-19-2021 08:58 AM

Exactly Right!

I normally tell them to not add any decals (as they add them when they sell the vehicle to the customer vs. dealer swap) Along the same lines.. nothing else goes on my bumper. (includes my views either political or spiritual) my car and yard* is like this forum post no bills.

*including why would you let a potential thief know you have ADT or another alarm? let them kick the door in and it does it's job. Don't let them know the type so it can be defeated. - I get it they will see the sign and move to a non sign home. just my leave the car/yard clear theory.

They can peel them off the car unless they pay me for advertising. All have declined to pay so far. Plate holder if wanted, is personal not dealer advertising

davem4616 08-19-2021 09:10 AM

I've always been curious about that too....why would you want to provide free advertising to anyone....I've never even put bumper stickers on the car

there was a time when they drilled holes and attached their name plate to the rear of the car...now it's just the cheap license plate holder, that blocks out the name of the state on most plates

I pay more than enough for my vehicles and don't need to provide them with any free advertising.

lazyness

They are free , cause no harm ,let’s people know where you bought the car , most people don’t care, some feel they are giving the dealer free advertising and hence remove them, I personally have my own license bracket I prefer and the dealer decal will cause paint to be different when they are removed .over time so I too remove them.

I often look for those decals to find out if the car was bought near TV. As for my Black Beauty (03Tbird) no decals

I did not have a negative opinion until he started calling a very courageous diver a "pedo" just because he did not like his ridiculous "kid submarine".

I will give him credit for exploiting government subsidies.

Warning Will Robinson. The state passed a law last year which was upheld in court that if you block any part of the name or numbers for your license plate you can get a very nice expensive ticket. My nephew was stopped coming from Miami up to visit last year. You may think this is a joke but it's not you must not interfere with the state name or the top and I would suggest getting a in metal or silicone frame from Amazon or Pepboys excetera to save that $250 ticket. It's a good excuse for the police to pull you over and ask for your license I am not kidding!

I worked with a guy back in the 70s that demanded the dealer remove all advertising from his new car or pay him to be their advertiser, don't remember how it turned out.

The pink auto nation license plate holder went really well with my new blue Silverado…..

I turned our Plaza Cadillac plate to the blank side. Service department is not responsive to customer requests. All I needed was a phone call and answer to my query. Gave up and went to Sullivan in Ocala, my new dealership.
