Kudos To Multi Modal Trails Improvements
 

It looks like progress is going well. Based on what I have observed, the contractors are doing a first class job. Eva Rey is doing a great job keeping us informed via e-mail updates and via The Daily Sun. There have been necessary inconveniences but detours have been well marked.

We are gonna like it.

Not to be negative, are the new paths north of 466, narrower than those south of 466. Just a question!!

It's going to be an enormous improvement to the northwest area! :thumbup:
I love it there because it is such a beautiful mature area. We didn't purchase there because of the narrow golf cart paths.

Now they've got that problem fixed, IMHO, I think the house prices in that area will increase.

Barefoot, I agree with you, almost. This will be a significant improvement North of 466 and help home values. Has anyone seen a master plan for these improvements? I know they are doing the trails along Buena Vista now. What about the narrow tunnels? The one by the Polo grounds as an example. What about some of the side streets where the paths are very narrow? Del Mar going into Spanish Springs comes to mind. It appears some of those will be impossible to resolve.

Where as in the South, all major paths, roads where the path is on the side (e.g. Bailey Trail) and even the side streets with designated paths they are fairly wide. I just don't know if they can make the same level of improvements in the North. Any improvements will help and make the travel to Glenview or Lopez better, but 5 years will also make the landscaping mature in the South. So I applaud the improvements, but will it ever be to the same standard as the South?

The new paths are a major improvement. I live in that area and can't wait until the El Camino portion is open. The two "sides" that have paths here in TV are not on the same par. Guess things are learned from each phase of development and changes to accommodate are made. When I first moved here, couldn't drive golf carts after dusk. Now larger LSV's and customized carts are all over. Who'd have thunk???

Do you mean on Morse or running along Morse? Morse Blvd was made wider and repaved with a marked cart and bike path.

All of the multi-modal paths north of 466 are only 12 feet wide and are constructed of concrete (like a sidewalk). Over time, and with normal ground shifting, these paths are bumpy and uncomfortable to ride on and can be dangerous when two carts approach each other around a curve.

The paths south of 466 are 16 feet wide and are constructed of pavement just like roads, making these paths more comfortable and less dangerous.

The project that is underway will bring the paths north of 466 up to the standards of those south of 466.

Some are only 10' wide. I watched the contractor tear up some of the old paths. It appears the concrete was just laid on the ground with no sub surface preparation. A lot of attention seems to be given to sub surface preparation on the new paths including a layer of lime rock then two layers of asphalt. I have observed city streets being built with less attention to detail. These new paths with golf cart (light) traffic will be around when most of us are gone.
