Main purpose of a VPN while it MIGHT do that as a "feature" isn't to hide ads and private browsing in your browser That only keeps others who have access to your physical computer or tablet or phone from seeing the porn sites or dating sites you don't want your wife or husband or partner to see if they sit at your computer. :D :D
Purpose of a VPN is to hide your IP address (the address you are identified by across the web) and keep others from getting into your computer from outside. It provides a "second stop" for your browsing or apps and if anyone looks at those IP addresses it may show your computer as located in Italy or California or Iceland or whatever country you select. If all you want is private browsing (like you get from your browser when you choose "private window") or ad blocking there are a lot better and cheaper ways to do that. A VPN basically hides your computer and it's location from web sites you log onto and makes those sites think you are located somewhere else.
