Noise Pollution
Do you notice how loud and obnoxious trucks, cars, motorcycles are on the TV streets?
Some days I can't carry on a conversions with friends while my windows rattle from the exhaust noise. Those are modified/broken exhaust systems on those vehicles and should be against the law. Most retirement community's are 55 yrs.+, wouldn't you think at that age, they would have it out of their system? We have air pollution, water pollution, and now noise pollution. Your Thoughts Please |

Decades ago, Florida had a vehicle inspection system, I remember when relatives that lived here told me it was repealed and showed me a picture of a "legal" car with no doors, hood or trunk. It has been going downhill since.

We moved here especially because we had to endure ten years in a multi-family neighborhood with excessive Noise from teenage music and loud cars.
|
What about the guys driving through the Publix parking lot with the windows down and playing extremely loud music? Is that illegal or just deliberately obnoxious? What is their purpose for doing it?

We like quiet, that’s why we bought a house that is not on a busy road, it’s not too close to any busy roads, and it abuts a wildlife preserve. The only traffic noise we ever hear is the occasional far away sirens from emergency vehicles.

Forget about cars, trucks, and motorcycles - thats just temporary.
How about the idiot neighbor with the wind chime 12' away from your lania that runs 24/7 and sounds like someone ringing your doorbell nonstop! - now thats noise pollution! |

I back up to a through street, a couple of blocks from the fire station. The main street noise I notice is the firemen driving their huge fire truck past my house with the sirens going and honking their horn as they blast through the four-way stop at the corner, three houses down. It seems to happen twice a day, right at meal times, and they always seem to be headed North to Highway 42. I've about decided they're just making a BBQ run to Artman's.
On the other hand, I've noticed that the older I get, the more the noise of people having fun without me bothers me, which is odd, since my hearing's getting so bad I have to blast the TV a full volume just to make out what they're saying half the time. So maybe it's just me. But the great thing about living long enough to see the 21st century, is that now there's a place you can always go to complain about stuff like that -- the interwebs! |

Wind chimes. They have moved. I had a neighbor and someone gave him wind chimes. To be honest, they never bothered me and I never said anything about them. Not sure if someone else complained or not. He put rubber bands around the tubes so he had a silent wind chime. I do not claim to be perfect. I do the best I can. Code of good conduct. I do not do what I object to others doing. As I've posted in the past. I have a friend who bought 140 acres, with his brother and they live on a fairly wild piece of property in North Carolina. There are choices. |
That is one considerate neighbor. I have no problem at all with silent wind chimes.
