Electric Lanai Sliders

Does anyone have electric lanai sliders?

I vaguely remember a previous thread about this, but I was not able to find it. You might modify your initial post, are you looking to add this capability to existing sliders, are you looking to replace the sliders completely, something else? Also, how wide are your sliders, how many panels, ours are 12 foot, 4 panels, center opening, and the configuration is much different from our neighbors, 12 foot wide, 4 panels, all slide to one side, the electric operation would be much different. I did not get a chance to do an internet search to see what is available, but I am sure there are also safety concerns, just like on garage doors.

I did an inter net search, this site might help: Home - Autoslide Automatic Sliding Doors

Looks like something I would hate to replace the motor and maintain.

The first site I looked at was Autoslide but they don’t have any local dealers.

My slider is 10ft, 3 panel.

The doors are heavy and my mom has difficulty opening. She will be staying with me maybe 2 months each winter. I would like for her to just push a button and have it open. I wish Autoslide had a local dealer, you would think this is exactly the type city they would thrive in, but they’re not here.

Have you tried Lowe's or home depot to see if they have or offer an add on to their sliders for automatic opening?

I haven’t but I will. Thanks for suggestion. I will say I’m surprised this is not more popular in this community. I’ve seen some frail elderly that have a difficult time opening a car door.

I did an additional search in MS Edge using 'how to electrify sliding doors', ignore the first couple of items, then you will see some possibilities for lanai sliders as well as what appears to be companies that will sell you the equipment.

While I probably have the expertise to do this I do not wish to accept the liability. IMHO, if you are planning on going forward with this project please include a UPS to power this system or some form of emergency release so the door(s) can be opened easily for a power or equipment failure.

Hmmm the elderly having. Problems there’s a much larger village population that have a hard time just sliding past the steering wheel and then trying to pull themselves out of car

OP, Here is another search: handicap accessible sliding patio doors, it occurred to me that there should be some form of modification for handicapped people, hope this helps. I did not go to all of the results, but there might be something that would help you.

That search is a great idea. One company came up 4 times, autoslide. The one company not represented in TV. I will call them anyway, maybe they have a sister company in this area.

In case of fire I assume all is depowered and we’re back to manual. Interesting if they have battery backup.

This project is not a project I would do as a DIY. I want a warranty. I recall my uncle in NY had something like this 30 years ago and the unit failed on a regular basis.
