Has anyone else noticed that not only does just about everything cost quite a bit more at the grocery store, but the package size of most things are also getting smaller.

We buy Sunbelt Snack bars and it seems each time we purchase a box there’s less product in the individual package.

Yes, I've noticed this, and yet, I keep gaining weight.
Maybe because I eat two 6.5 oz bars instead of one 10 oz. bar?

Ice cream has been doing this for years, now other items are doing it as well.

The best value in my opinion is Publix Ice Cream still a half gallon, not 1.5 quarts.

I know I’m getting a little off topic but since the 90s we’ve loved Ben and Jerry’s ice cream. We stopped buying it when they introduced a new flavor recently and sales from the the flavor called “Change is Brewing” will help fund efforts to defund the police. You're getting a lot off topic. Why does just about every topic, even the seemingly most innocuous ones, have to turn political? :ohdear: This thread was about products shrinking in size and not anyone's opinion on Ben and Jerry's (who haven't even owned the company for the last 21 years) political beliefs whether you agree or disagree with them. When they go on sale "buy one get one free" I don't give a hoot about their political beliefs as long as they have Chunky Monkey in the freezer.

The ice cream change is coming : It’s to change the legal system by investing in mental health ,substance abuse ,counseling ,and health care all issues that affect many especially the poor given the chance people especially first time offenders can get better and even police forces know that mental health people showing up with the cops or without them can lower the temperature in many non criminal calls of stressed out people there are other ways to treat some offenders hold them accountable but help them get on track it’s better and cheaper then prison , thanks for the tip I’m going to buy a pint of it tomorrow go Red Sox

I never look at the package except to find the weight/volume and calculate the unit price. I do not count on the store's unit pricing, since they follow the package units, and every package can have a different unit - weight/volume/bites/whatever.

It's been a pretty common practice for a LONG time now to put less product in a larger package, the best example is cereal.

So, we buy on what brands we like, then on price per unit that we calculate. Problem solved.

Their ice cream is too inexpensive anyway.

I can suffer the sizes getting smaller in the packages, my main issue is getting into some of the packaging.
My poor wife has poorly arthritic hands, and getting into some containers/tins/packets is a nightmare for her if I am not around.
As for some of the thicker plastic welded items, one slip and you could lose a finger.
I also wish that my body packaging was shrinking at the same rate as the goods inside.

Since the companies have turned political I have turned my back on them also.

Tuna fish is a very big offender I actually call them up as they have one unit dimension on their cans and then other on the pouches that are totally different, I am actually referring to their calorie counts per unit but yours about the price per unit is also valid

Yes, pay attention to cost per ounce or pound rather than package. Math is a useful skill.

Plan your weekly meals by shopping the sales - BOGO, not the "2 for" price.

Remember that Publix and Winn-Dixie have rolling sales for many of their BOGO items "Buy One, Get One", and remember, if you purchase just one you still pay full price. Only the "2 for" sale items will get you the lower cost if you purchase only one.

Shop smarter, and use your math skills in these inflationary times.

Also important - register your profile, and remember to enter your phone number when checking out. Many times there are targeted savings as the stores monitor your past shopping. The apps also not only help you make your shopping list, but also remind you which aisle the items are located.
