Italian festival

Yesterday we went to our first Italian Festival in Spanish Springs. We saw lots of table and chairs set up and said to ourselves, oh boy, lots of pizza, fried dough, sausages and peppers, pasta, etc.....wrong ! Instead there was Chick Fil A, some bar b que pork sandwiches and La hacienda had some eggplant and sausages I think. So why all the tables with no food?? Beats me.
We loved the parade, bands, entertainment, but how can you have a festival without the traditional food? Pauly's had a small float in the parade, but what about the pizza?
hey, I know it's not the North End in Boston, but really...............
Wondering if that was the case in Lake Sumter also?

It is a little sad "food-wise" for an Italian Festival. No Italian hot dogs, no Pizza, no zeppoles, no pasta or Italian delicacies.
On the plus side, there were hundreds and hundreds of great people to spend the day with and lots of music and plenty to drink.
We participated at both squares and had a wonderful time. It's not the San Gennaro festival we knew as New Yorkers, but I'll stay right here; thank you very much.

Many moons ago there were other food vendors who participated. Real italian food. Added authenticity to the event. Think they now have a "closed" policy for food and other vendors and limit to TV businesses. Still a nice time but would have preferred more choices. Same for the other ethnic fesivals as well.

Lake Sumter had Red Sauce out there and like Spanish Springs some of the other local no real Italian, so I didn't eat there. Other wise the parade was fun and the place was packed.

It seems like these ethnic festivals if they are say Italian...

...also get Polish, German, Dutch, Spanish, Mexican, Irish, Russian, Japanese, Chinese, Canadian, Swedish, and Thai people and food.

We were at LSL around 6 PM....and red sauce ran out of food....and the line was looooonng for La haceinda....so we left and went for mexican...
What a shame! It is a little sad "food-wise" for an Italian Festival. No Italian hot dogs, no Pizza, no zeppoles, no pasta or Italian delicacies. So true...

We found this to be the same way when "Cinco de Mayo" was celebrated in the centers. No mexican food to speak of.....

Sure hope Octoberfest will be different......

This was my first Italian Fest and the parade was great! I agree about the food. Hope the October Fest has better ethnic food! It was a lot of fun and the entertainment was wonderful!
