Shag Dancing

I am a beginner shagger. One reason I am moving to TV is the dancing.
Could I hear from some shaggers? I am interested in your club.

Welcome! We moved here in Jan. from Myrtle Beach for shag dancing also. Our shag club has a beginner lesson on the second Wednesday of the month at Mulberry Rec. Center at 6:00. Intermediate class follows at 7:00. Check the Thursday Rec. news for more information. The 3rd Wednesday of the month we have a dance where we also have swing dancers and boppers. Hope to see you this Wednesday.

I'm almost afraid to ask, but what is shag dancing?

It is similar to a slow jitterbug. I believe it is the state dance of South Carolina. We picked it up when we first moved to Myrtle Beach and love it. You could dance song after song with the shag where you are tired after one jitterbug. The majority of the Myrtle Beach shaggers are 50's and over. However there are quite a younger dancers. There is competitive shagging from teens on up. Come to the shag meeting and check it out.

Below are some links to the Spring and Fall gathering in North Myrtle Beach. This is a very large gathering of the 50+ age group that like to party and have a good time. The spring gathering is called by many Spring Break For Adults. Both the Spring and Fall gatherings run over a 10 day period to cover 2 weekends. I have been once and had a great time want to go back when the timing is good.

Check out some of the photos in the links below.

Great Music and Great People!
