Procter & Gamble, the maker of Tide detergent and Charmin toilet paper, said this week that it would embark on another round of price increases after warning that supply chain costs would be higher than it previously anticipated. Andre Schulten, P&G’s chief financial officer, said it had announced price rises for nine of its 10 categories of products in the US, with mid single-digit increases across most of its portfolio.

It is no secret. The cpi consumer price index has hit 5.8%. You pay that with after tax money. Where to invest your money and your space? Tide or toilet paper?

I have a friend, a former business associate. He knows how much more toilet paper his wife uses than he does. Not sure but I think he has stocked up a year supply. I do wonder a his and her pile?

Same guy buys a stock of condolence cards. You never know when you are going to need them. My reply, don't buy one for me, I hope it will be yellowed from age before you need it.

CPI, I'm not sure but I think they took fuel and housing out of the calculation, years ago,. Instant inflation NUMBER control.

Went to Sams this morning and most carts had cases of TP, water, paper towels and other items they are afraid of running out of.

I still have TP left over from 2020 does it expire (only kidding about expiring) never checked for a use before date.

That is why many people buy leaves.

These saved our a.......oh well, you know what last hoarders session....HIGHLY recommend. Don't need the electrical for warming option if you dont want the extra expense, the water from the holding tank is not really "cold", more room temp. All our neighbors looked for them last go around, they were already sold out.

Amazon has lots to choose from as well, but tushy is very uncomplicated and easy to install. And yes, the prices have risen dramatically from the $69 each we paid a little over 2 yrs ago. (got them just before the pandemic hit)

Hmmmm Maybe we all should stock up on corn cobs incase toilet paper disappears completely......

Supply chain problems are worldwide right now, so we can at least take comfort that it's not just something unique to the USA.

As a reference there are many different government CPI indexes according to the need, Farmers have one seniors have one, there are several general, there's one Congress person who just introduced the legislation to change the social security CPI index to a senior-based one, I believe he's up in Massachusetts

My question always has been "how much is enough?" How does one "know" if what they hoard will get them through til------????? Remember Y2k??
