Removing columns in Camellia
 

Love the Camellia designer home but not sure I love the two interior columns between kitchen and dining. Has anyone had them removed? Are they decorative and not load bearing?

I believe this is the same layout as a Begonia and Gardenia, and I have personally removed these in a Begonia. The columns are fiberglass and not load bearing. IMHO after having done this, I would guess you will be looking at $1000 to $2000 for this work. Be aware you will need to find matching tile (or similar flooring) where the posts are removed. There will be a lot of dust and insulation involved. Be sure to have the insulation that falls on the floor replaced in the attic. Finally do some research and get someone highly recommended for the wall and ceiling repair and final finish. If you would like all the gory details, send me a PM and we can talk on the phone.
