Average age for a villager

Hello. I have been enjoying this forum for a number of years and I also came down for a Lifestyle Visit about 4 years ago. I am also amazed at the recent villages expansion. Wow!
But the years have passed and I am now going on 76 years old.
So what is the average age for a new villager to buy a home and come down now?
Thanks! MarvinH

My google search said the average age of the TV population is 71.

The growth rate of TV is incredibly impressive! ( in the last month alone :1rotfl: )
I am 47 but not retired. I moved here in 2014 to be a caregiver. I love the diversity here and getting to know people from all over the U.S. and the world makes life here so very interesting.
I hope you are having a wonderful time✌

Based on your question "average age for a new villager to buy a home" my guess would have to be based on where in The Villages you were referring. I'm going to speculate that many of the newly retired people are in their early 60's, and I would bet that many of them are buying new homes which are in the new areas south of 44. That was probably true say 10 years ago when the area around Lake Sumter Landing and down to Brownwood was new. So now, I would expect that area to have many in their 70's. And by extension, I would expect a lot more of those north of 466 are in their late 70's and 80's,. I know that in all areas there are a mix of ages due to resales, but I suspect that this logic would explain the average age being 71.5. But this is all a guess.

My parents moved into the Villages as new owners at 80 and 73.

We also moved into the Villages recently at 54 and 52 -- we are not retired, but figured we would enter the 'bubble' early. At 54, the Villages gladly took my money.

My parents wished they got here much earlier, but such is life.

They are Frogs... they say they plan to 'croak' here.

My wife and I don't know. Maybe we will retire here, but maybe we will live in the Villages until retirement and end up somewhere else. For now we are enjoying the fact that friends and family back in our home state experienced frost last night, and all we had was a slight chill in the air.

I agree with your speculation, but as you mentioned, there are exceptions which I am part of (and quite a few people I know). I retired here at 55 and I bought in the north end of TV.

I’m 76 and just got here. Come on down - you’ll love it.

Your post makes a lot of sense.

We first came here about seven years ago now on a lifestyle visit and have had some rental experiences before buying our current home (Alhambra) a little over a year ago now. Older village = older villagers seems to be the rule (with of course some exceptions). Many of our neighbors have been here for 10-15 years, a couple even approaching 20. You wouldn't see that in the newer developments.

I’m 58 and hubby is 63 — we are both retired and remodeled a 25-year-old home from a single owner in February. We are snowbirds from Colorado. Our next door neighbors are our age and inherited the home from parents (also the only owners of that home). Neighbors across the street range from late 60’s to late 80’s. Not sure when we may full-time it, but probably in the next 10 years. We love it here and we live the character (and characters) on the north end along with our location between Spanish and Sumter. We joined south of 60’s club and we do go down south to rec centers and to brownwood by both car or cart — that’s just fine too. Don’t wait any longer — this is a wonderful place!

I'm 63 (64 on Thanksgiving), SWMBO just turned 63 last month.

We settled in February and have been down to the house 5 times this year (coming again next month...) Still active snowflakes, but working on my retirement and my exit strategy, so we can become Frogs...
