What are you drinking?

At my house it’s vodka and bourbon (not together that would be disgusting). Absolut or Three Olives for the lady and anything from Evan Williams to Knob creek for me. Also keep a bottle of Tennessee whiskey in the bar. I am surprised with the news reports of coming spirits shortages that the prices have remained consistent. What’s in your glass?

Water, coffee or tea. Anything with alcohol in it is poison to me, I'm highly allergic.

Tea, water, orange juice, plumsmart, since pandemic occasionally little fireball mixed drink when I can’t sleep. Hard liquor taste like kerosene to me. Beer blows my up and give me headache. Wine to sour for me, I have hard enough time getting down the plumsmart beings they changed the formula.

We have 3 or 4 bottles of wine ready to pour. We use a system that only punctures the cork with fine needle. Keeps wine perfect for up to a year, so don’t have to waste a $50 bottle of wine, because just can’t finish, or need more than one variety for a dinner.

Most nights, we enjoy a bottle of wine. Usually, I buy it by the case from Naked Wines. Occasionally, we will drink mules instead, that is if the new arrivals haven’t bought all the Gosling ginger beer. Once in a great while, we will drink Knob Creek or Baileys ( for my wife). Being a former home brewer, I enjoy a nice beer once in a while. Have gotten away from beer as it tends to cause bloating for me.

Your post reminds me of an amusing incident out of the distant past...

I had just begun dating my wife (Thai immigrant), living up in Duluth, MN at the time. We were talking about going out for dinner. I hadn't known her long so I suggested a restaurant where I knew the drink service was first-rate.

"Oh, I'm allergic to alcohol" she said. "It makes my face numb and I can't talk right".

I find a well rested bottle of Fresca, properly cooled of course, is the idea accompaniment for most meals. It pairs well with peanut butter, crunchy, with jelly or marmalade. For some meals, as you certainly know, Diet Coke with or without caffeine is preferred by many. It does enhance the Buffalo wings.

For more casual occasions, Lipton citrus diet iced tea is an excellent option. I always have several bottles ready to pour.

Red wine, Coors light, and Malibu Rum.

Bwah-hah-hah-hah!!! There's no way on God's green earth that a bottle of wine would last a year in my house, whether it was already opened or not. Unless it was a muscodine, that thing would be here until the end of time. I tell you what, Tennessee makes some of the finest whisky in the free world, but the grapes that grow there are downright disgusting.

Robert Downey Jr had a similar comment. He said he was allergic to alcohol and drugs. "When I take them, I break out in handcuffs..." :1rotfl::1rotfl::1rotfl:

W.C. Fields to Bartender: "Did I come in here last night and spend a $20 bill?"

Bartender: "Yes, you did."

W. C. Fields: "Thank God...I thought I'd lost it."

I make wine as a hobby so there is usually a few bottles of that lying around. I'm not much for mixed drinks; just about always something on the austere side like a vodka-tonic. Being of Slavic heritage we usually have a bottle or two of slivovitz lying around. I was surprised when I found out that the liquor stores down here actually carry it.

We had just moved here and I was gathering up stuff to make a batch of wine. Lacking plastic tubing I went to Lowe's and asked if they carried food-grade plastic tubing. The guy looked at me and asked what on earth I'd need food-grade tubing for. I told him it was for winemaking. "Never been asked for that before" the guy said. "Some people come here for things to make whiskey stills out of but that's about all".
