Infrastructure of the nation

Is there a good reason to not want improvements???

Please, no politics.

I will try and navigate this minefield. In the past, both parties have promised shovel ready infrastructure bills. They lied.
If you read the current bill, how much of it is for infrastructure?

Like all issues such as this, it comes down to semantics.

"Infrastructure" means different things to different people.

There is a need not just for improvements, but critically to repair/replace bridges, roads, sewers etc that are beyond the end of their useful life. In a place as young as TV we see sewers failing, a bridge that they tell us is going to fall into the lake etc. Multiply that times every location in America, and consider that much of the infrastructure is OLD. Both parties have promised to get going on this critical need. The issue, as always, is how to pay for it.

The simple answer is how much is it going to cost ME and my family. If I am going to borrow money and be in debt, I prefer to think carefully as to how much it is worth to me. On the other hand, if I am spending someone else's money, I guess being frivolous is just fine.

nobody read the bill. only 30% is for roads, bridges etc. rest is social benefits and green new deal in which many of the elected officials have heavy investments> republicans who flipped to support the bill were from NY and they got a ton of money for NY

Actual number is $110B out of $1.2T going to roads & bridges. Some other good things in bill like strengthening the electric grid which is a house of cards ready to fail at any minute, truly scary stuff. Most of what's in this bill is OK, but with less than 10% going to roads & bridges don't expect too much to be fixed any time soon.

It seriously depends...

what you consider infrastructure to be. Personally I think it's roads, bridges, electrical grid, fresh water/waste water control, police and emergency services. I don't consider anything to do with childcare, windmills, green energy police, internet or solar panels part of infrastructure.

This, unfortunately, is a partisan issue. What ever one party tries to do the opposition does what it can to get the plan to fail. "See how they failed. So, vote us back in. We will fix it.". And the pendulum swings back and forth and we, the people, see nothing really happens.
