Arctic Freeze
 

About 20 ships are stuck in surprising Arctic ice build up. Nuclear and Diesel powered ice-breakers are being sent to rescue those stuck. It may take more a week to rescue. (See thebarentsobserver DOT com article ... "two icebreakers are on the way".) Wind and Solar powered boats are unable to assist.

Hurry up and free those ships, so they can get in queue at a shipping port and wait a couple of months to be unloaded.

Those frozen ships can't even troll -- thanks to climate change. Solar and Wind powered boats will be their only hope in the future. It's just sign of things to come -- after fossil fuel and nuclear energies are dismantled. Enjoy those energy sources while they still exist.

Pretty soon the Northwest Passage will replace the Panama Canal.

When we were in Copenhagen a few years back we saw four ice breaker ships at port that service that area of the world.....huge, huge massive ships, gigantic thick hulls rising up in the bow, once you see these brutes, there's no question in your mind what job they were designed for and built to do

That "passage" was ice free in 2007, but since then -- well ... call it global cooling. Also, the NYT reported that the "passage" was ice free on March 9, 1907 when ships easily sailed through. Do not sell your snow shovels. Remember -- it snowed in Miami in 1977.

Few years ago a cruise ship escorted by an icebreaker did a transit. Not a regular route now but who knows.

Pretty soon NYC will be under 100 foot of ice. Pretty and soon are subjective.

Not to worry those item’s are already paid for.

Don't think that's gonna happen for the next hundred years.
And don't say we have to look out for the next generations as they will more than likely be living on Mars, some other planet or space station...

While this freeze is in the Arctic, it is the Arctic off the coast of Siberia, not Alaska or Canada. Ships there are required to hire icebreakers to accompany them at this time of year, but the ships that are stuck broke the law and didn’t. They thought they could sneak through and save the expense. Some may be stuck for several months.
The article DOES NOT mention ships running on Wind or Solar at all. You made that up. Even if there were gigantic ships filled with oil or iron ore (like these) that could run entirely on wind or solar (and there aren’t), there is precious little sunlight to be had in the Arctic at this time of year. Play fair!
