I Do Not Want a Cell Phone

Is there anyone out there in Village land and beyond that refuses to own/carry a cell phone besides this old goat?

Your Thoughts Please

So, how do you know when your car warranty expires?

Have several friends who feel the same.

Worry what happens if they have a problem at home or when out and need help.

Just having the ability to call for assistance when out and about was a good enough reason for me finally relent.

And you want this information, for what?

I don’t know how old you are , but I’ll be 83 next month and not an old goat , that being said you can use the phone as little as you want or be a slave to it , I choose neither option , I use it moderately. Try finding a pay phone if you have an emergency, see how many people who will stop to help you on a public road ( practically none ) you can also be free of waiting in house for a call.what if we all need to leave home in an emergency. The pleasure of just calling someone when you feel like it , wherever you are. The trick is and it’s easier then you think .YOU control the cell phone , not the CELL PHONE controlling YOU. I’ve had one since 1990 and I haven’t had a land line since 2000

Just for safety reasons alone I wouldn't ever be without my cell phone.

Very true. What happens when out and about and my wife needs me and no phone.

I don't wear a watch or have a cell phone. IMO cell phones are an excuse to behave poorly. We would always do a HH after golf. After all we stink at golf and the purpose for playing was for socializing. The minute we sit down half of the group sticks their nose into those rude addictive vehicles of destruction. Kind of similar to being at a store and the person waiting on you says please wait I have a phone call. Wait a minute here I'm the guy with the money in his pocket standing directly in front of you.

Very few pay phones today, but for emergences, try finding someone WITHOUT
a cell phone.

So you don't want to buy/carry a cell phone but you figure if YOU have an emergency someone else will let you use theirs? Why would I hand my $1400 cell phone to some stranger who doesn't know how to use it, might steal or drop/break it, or leave covid cooties all over it?

Your Thoughts Please

My view, we can chose to do whatever we want till it intrudes on others.
Approval thoughts from others. Most others have chosen cell phones
if you chose not to so long as you do not intrude on others, it should be
fine with all,

charlieo1126@gmail.com 11-20-2021 02:33 PM

Exactly Kathy
and as far not having a cell phone because of rudeness of others using there phone during social gatherings , well I can’t understand that reasoning, but maybe find new people to socialize with would help part of your problem. I’m out to eat most nights , I or people I’m with would never use a cell phone during dinner unless it was very important and if I’m in a coffee shop or somewhere else in public , I step away from people if I must take the call . The same rules of etiquette should always be involved whether it’s with cell phone or without one, don’t be loud, impolite or rude wherever or whatever you are doing in public

Just think of it as a Swiss Army Knife, there are so many things you can do with it....
