New Traffic Detour for Central Parkway/C-470
Starting Dec. 6, traffic on Central Parkway/C-470 will switch to a detour roadway to facilitate realignment construction. The detour will be a 2.3 mile segment ending near the connection with Marsh Bend Trail. The realignment improvements include the roundabout at Marsh Bend Trail and C-470, the connection of the old C-470 to Marsh Bend Trail

As a Villager, I'm excited for Eastport and Middleton, but if I were a local outside the Villages, I wouldn't like this too much.
I work at a local public institution and I see daily how heavily traveled 470 is for folks coming off 75 and the Turnpike to get to Leesburg and the other towns. I can only imagine that they are going to strongly dislike this new inconvenience. From here out, 470 will never be the same for the locals. Quote:

Today 470 is a two lane with no shoulders head-on risk death trap, not unusual to be passed by someone doing 90+. To get one car ahead...
And there have been horrific fatalities at the 470/501 intersection this will mitigate. Central Parkway will be a 4 Lane divided highway with traffic calming curves similar to Morse and Buena Vista. Reducing speed from 55 to 35 is less than a 5 min difference in drive time from 501 to the Turnpike. |

Here's a map for what is planned for the area.
Think I saw where the Lake County part of 470 will remain a straight shot and upgraded to four Lanes. |

The southern part of the county could use a more direct East West bypass similar to 466 and 466A for commercial traffic. |
Morse and Bunea Vista speed limits are 35mph but most are driving 45mph. I suspect most vehicles will do the same on the new 470. Retirees apparently have places to go and things to do just like it was prior to retirement.

This will be a minimum 6 months to years for this project. Morse and 466 was supposed to be quick.

Just finish Meggison and all the problems are solved.
