electric outlet in golf cart

we bought a 2021 yahama quiet tech and paid extra for an electrical outlet. the outlet is actually just a ‘cigarette lighter’ cavity for us to plug something in. i called carts and clubs and they said we needed a 40 watt converter. unfortunately, i can’t find anything and i want to hang christmas lights, any suggestions???
thanks!

Plug a USB adapter into the cigarette lighter socket,
and then you can plug in these USB
powered fairy lights.

Get a string of battery operated LED Christmas lights.

Most LED's are 12VDC. Just tap into your battery connection in one of many possible places including your lighter-like socket. Not sure why you need any kind of converters. I have about 8 LED strips on my cart directly off 12V line . Barely pulls 150mah (it's not a Yamahamamama but 12vdc is 12vdc) and was approved by the dealer and has been fine for 3 years.

I just fastened them around perimeter of roof
with masking tape between LED’s….
nice that they are waterproof.
Plus the LED’s are so tiny, you hardly notice
them during the day, but at night they are very bright!

You can get a 12v inverter on Amazon for $30 - $40.

Re: 40 w converter
They are saying you need to covert the DC from your cigarette lighter jack to AC. I would expect you can find lights that will work on DC current and you do not then need the converter. Beware, there is or should be a fuse on the cigarette lighter. You do not want to exceed that. Do not put in a bigger fuse. The limit is the wiring. You want to check if the cigarette lighter goes off when you turn off your cart. You do not want to leave the lights on and drain your battery.

If you need 110v from 12 volt, something like this will work:

Ampeak 100W Car Power Inverter DC 12V to 110V AC Converter with 2.1A USB Car Adapter Amazon.com

2017 and newer Yamaha carts come with 2 USB plug ins already there. Carts from The Villages stores have these so maybe Cart and Clubs carts do not.

Very nice! How many strands of light did you use? Thanks

Valley Of The Blind

“In the valley of the blind,
the one eyed is not king, but spectator!”

Only for a bit before the residents remove that diseased, halluninatory thing that the "king" says lets him see things.

Are you referring to the cart photo with the lights around the roof and down the front?
If so, it was only one 32ft string of LED lights that I supplied an Amazon link for.

BlackHarley 12-07-2021 08:44 AM

Sounds to me like Cart and Clubs thought you had an electric cart and were suggesting a 48v converter. Other than that it makes no sense.
