Document shredding

Is there a facility in the villages that will shred confidential documents? I know that some of the banks provide this service from time to time, but i need to shred some old financial documents soon to make room in my attic.

Staples does it. They charge about 90 cents per pound. But, I would call before you go, because sometimes their bins are full.

Pack and Ship store in Palm Ridge shopping area does it too. Palm Ridge off 101 across from the Southern Trace shopping area.

Interesting. However paper is heavy. Leaving it at a store to be shredded? We do our own. Our machine, I think we bought it at garage sale for $10 and it has lasted about 9 years. What kills them is staples and paperclips, you need to remove them.

At Staples, you put them into a locked bin that is picked up once or twice per week. If you trust them, I think it is a good deal. You don't need to remove staples and paper clips.

just use staples secure shredding bins. Between friends and I, we have done at least 100 lbs or more of just pushing the paper through a slot in the top of a locked plastic bin. why bother with more expensive options. . .

Takes about 5 minutes per 10/20 pounds.

With trash being incinerated totally just dole them out in the trash in small segments .

For less than $75 you can buy your own shredder that will do multiple pages at one time plus also shred credit cards. New shredders cut in cross sections so duplication is impossible. Sit in front of tv or on your lanai and shred a box at a time. Sam’s Club has an inexpensive one.

We’ve used UPS locations that offer the service given our recent move and helping to clear out my Mom’s for a move - I saw about 0.45/lb and it was much better than dealing with every sheet of paper into household device.

Not every location does - but I believe it’s serviced like the Staples one - shredding truck comes once a week and does it on site - I do trust that it’s being handled and shredded securely but that’s just me. Closest one I can think of is up on 441 by the Publix/Spanish Springs but I would call first to be sure.

Respectfully, DB

Same here, haven't heard of this being a problem for a long time.

Probably much easier to hack accounts online than dig through garbage bags.

Sorry - I don’t know of one.

This is what we have been doing for years.
