legal to drive a two person go cart...

with a max speed of 30mph on the multi-modal trails?

feel free to laugh, disparage, show anger, utter condescending verbiage...or whatever.

villagetinker 01-15-2022 04:08 PM

No, 30 mph makes this a low-speed vehicle, and therefore subject to all of the requirements for that designation, please do not do it, other drivers have a hard enough time seeing a full size golf cart, you will probably be invisible to some. Also, I do not recall ever seeing a go cart with turn signals, headlights, emergency flashers, etc.

I'll laugh as you would be turned in and have a knock on your door within 24 hours of firing it it up. There is no one that is going to accept a go-kart on their street

From the District web site

Who is allowed to use the multi-modal paths throughout The Villages?” This is a question that the District receives on a regular basis. The multi-modal paths are for use by NON-AUTOMOTIVE traffic such as bicycles, golf carts, pedestrians, and skaters. It is not legal…nor is it smart…to drive vehicles such as smart cars, motorcycles, or mopeds on any of the multi-modal paths in The Villages.

vintageogauge 01-15-2022 04:48 PM

I don't know why anyone would have a go-kart here as there is nowhere legal to drive it and you would have to haul it out in the country someplace or to a race track to even be able to use it.

:ohdear: I understand asking the question. IMHO The second part makes me wonder if you are looking for an answer or an argument.......:icon_wink:

20 mph is the top speed allowed.

Which is adhered to and enforced about the same/less than the roadway speed limits.

NOT TRUE. LSV's with speeds not EXCEEDING 25mph (street legal golf carts) are specifically permitted on the MMP's. Actually, there probably are no actual LAWS involving MMP other than getting busted for DWI or DUI. Maybe unenforceable regulations but not "laws." You may want to read this carefully:

SHARE THE PATH INFO

Or if you can't open the above link read the attached PDF from districtgov.org which is what is linked above. It seems you have to save the attachment before opening it.

Per the CDD document posted in the reply right above this from DISTRICTGOV dot ORG , No. Whether it can/would be enforced is another story.

On street, MMP not street. Now getting to MMP might be problem.

Licensed smart cars/motorcycle/mopeds, lots of the electric what ever’s on MMP that can’t be licensed. Like golf carts, scooters, UTVs, electric skate boards, and electric mini-bikes.

Over 25 and not registered, you are looking at a couple thousand dollars in fines.

Wow, it went from $500 - $600 to a couple of thousand. Inflation is out of control.

Actually an LSV max speed is defined by FL law as "not capable of exceeding 25mph." Over 25 is ???????, dunno, a slow car? :)
