Dryer vent cleaning
 

We had someone out to clean our ducts last Monday (that's a whole 'nother problem), and he also cleaned the dryer vent for us. Ever since, the dryer gets plenty hot, but it is not drying the clothes. I've also noticed some lint coming on to the wrong side of the filter. I just figured it was lint that got stirred up during the cleaning, but why would it be sucked in, instead of pushed out?
As an aside, I will say that he did NOT go on the roof to check the exit end. He did everything from inside.
Any suggestions?

It sounds like you have a blockage, probably at the roof because he didn't check the outflow. It's not a good idea to run the dryer until you get it cleaned out again. It could cause a fire. I would suggest calling Desmond Harris, 352-308-7457, and have the job redone.

I would not have the other ducts cleaned out. They are made of a flexible material that can easily be punctured by the cleaning equipment.

Agree with above; also check to be certain that your flex hose/tubing is not crimped. Lint can catch fire easily with static electricity.

I highly recommend Gus for dryer vent cleaning from the dryer and at the roof. He takes photos before and after the cleaning and does an excellent job. Very reasonable too.

Thank you all for the replies. There was a crimp. Pulled the dryer out and straightened the crimp.
Now, the neighbors won't be reporting me for drying my clothes on the shrubs! :1rotfl:

We had a guy do the same thing however he did check the vet on the roof and the person that put our roof on forgot to take off the vent. We were real close to a fire. He kind of saved our lives. I don't remember his business name but he advertises all the time in the village's newspaper.

Just a note - those plastic flexi tubes were banned I believe and now only metal vent tubes allowed in most areas ....

Sounds like he pushed the lint up and it is blocking the exit. Get him to come back and fix it. I had. I’ve done last week and my clothes are drying faster than before.

HE Didn't get the whole line cleaned out. probably left a plug of lint somewhere close to roof.Very bad as could cause a fire
