PayPal information

I have a question regarding PayPal. I want to close out the bank that backs up my PayPal account, I never use the bank and only pay through a credit card which is listed on my account.

So, can I close out my bank account and still use PayPal?

To those of you who just have to say "this information is available on PayPal website" ............ yes I am sure it is, but it is so much easier to just come here and hve someone tell me in words of one syllable. :icon_wink:

I do not know, I have a similar arrangement, but use a separate bank account specifically for PayPal, so I can easily monitor what is going on. At worst, you may need to sign in to your paypal account and change the banking info.

Been using Paypal for a long time, don't like it anymore. I am now looking for an alternative to paypal. Know of any?

I'm quite sure that as long as you have some payment source linked to PayPal, like your credit card, you can continue to use it.

If all you use PayPal for is purchases, you only need to have a valid active credit card on file. If closing your bank account cancels the card you have on file with PayPal, just go to your PayPal account, delete your card, and add a valid one. No bank account is necessary unless you borrow, transfer funds, accept funds, etc.

Just be sure the credit card is listed as the primary and you can delete the bank info from your account.

Credit card is fine.

This is correct. You can delete the cancelled account, but you must have another source of payment. I'm almost positive a credit card will suffice...

Venmo is another similar service used to transfer funds...

From the web:

Do You Need a Bank Account for PayPal? No, you don't need a bank account to sign up for PayPal or to receive payments. You can, however, connect your PayPal account to a bank account, a debit card or a credit card account for sending and receiving payments and transferring funds

You no longer need a bank account to receive PayPal funds or transfer funds from your account for an item you sold to someone directly or on eBay, Mercari etc. or a direct payment from a friend.A debit card or most credit cards work.

FWIW, Venmo is part of PayPal which was created to compete with Cash App, Zelle etc. so if one hates PayPal they might consider that.

Thank you all for the excellent information. I joined PayPal when you did have to have a bank account to back up your use. Things have changed.

Most grateful to everyone.

If you are saying you have a bank card (assuming a debit card) and a cc (from a different bank) - then yes, you can continue to use PayPal. If you have no listed cc on PayPal. when you check out you will be sked for a payment source.

I change my payment source often, no problem

When you go to pay for something like on eBay, PayPal will ask you which account you want to pay with or do you want to create a new account. Just make that your primary default account. Easy Peasy....
