Secretariat.

This had some funny golf jokes in it and some good horse racing scenes. It is not one of my favorite horse racing movies though as I kept having to suspend disbelief even though from Wikipedia some of the claims made in the movie about Secretariat seem to be true.

Yes, Tal, Secretariat's record still stands today -- 27 years later!

I haven't yet seen the movie -- anyone else??

Here's a video of that famed day:

I've been lucky enough to see two Triple Crown runners run -- Secretariat and Seattle Slew. Both were amazing horses. Secretariat truly did love to be in the back and then come pounding through. It was an amazing sight! His record still stands today and it is doubtful it will be broken any time in the near (or probably even not-so-near) future. And he did all of this carrying 126 lbs. Secretariat was all that was hyped in the movie and more.

There have been many debates as to which was the greater horse -- Man of War or Secretariat. As much as I love Mano, Big Red more than likely would have beaten him but I think it would have been close. Both horses had a heart and an ego that hated losing. (But if you go by stud history, Mano was the better horse.)

However, the movie really wasn't about Secretariat. It was about his owner. How much of that is accurate, I have no idea, but it did make a good story and brought back some fond memories of a great horse.

It is still playing at the Old Mill Playhouse and will probably be there for a while.

Caught the 6:55 show at the Old Mill Playhouse last night. Good sized crowd still, very enjoyable movie.
