UPS or FEDEx ground ship question

If I ship something via UPS or FEDEX do they generally leave the item in the drive (or entry way etc.) if we are not home? I know here in MA they will leave on front steps.

Include Instructions

You can include instructions for the driver as to where you would like the package left: entry way, neighbor, etc.

I do as Golf tinker says. When I ship it I have the delivery on the front steps. If you ship the stuff between Nov 3 thru the 17 I can accept them. I can store them in my garage until you get here.

They ring the bell and leave it next to the door and are usually gone by the time you get to the door.

Yes, but u can request that a signature be required....gn

But, be careful about "signature required" deliveries. I'm not all that certain that either UPS or FedEx will necessarily attempt to give the package to a neighbor; they may take it back with them and try again another day!

I recently was sent a "signature required" package. Fortunately, I had the tracking number so I could see where the package was. The dilemma was that "expected delivery" was on a certain Friday. My calendar was very cluttered that day, but I cancelled two things so as to be at home.

Yes, I might have said, "Oh, well, they'll bring it Monday." BUT, I was going to be out of town all day Monday!

Bottom line: they came Friday, but well after 5:00pm, and my optional event at 6:00 wasn't doable anymore!

yes swr, if you opt for sig req'd u have to be there, otherwise they will come back the next day, i think they will try for 3 days before returning the package to sender....gn
