Jerky start

I have a 2021 Yamaha Quiettech and it jerks every time I start out.

The tech says that is normal???

Does anyone else have that issue?

It could be the brake releasing. When I first got my cart I tried giving a little gas to start, just like a car, steadily increasing pressure on gas pedal. When the brake released it jerked terribly. Then I was shown the correct way is to give gas pedal a quick push to release brake. No more jerk.

Likely the belt.
And you need a new tech.

IF you’re new to gas golf cart it takes awhile to engage smooth start, press gas pedal down to fast will cause the engine to rev up and slam the centrifugal clutch in. If you done this for while it can burn the belt and might it jerky. Look at belt see if it has rubbed or spots look abnormal? Other than replacing belt that about it. There no adjustment except inside the clutch with aftermarket springs and weights which usually only done for off road use to get more torque from the engine.

How are you going to adjust the drive belt?

MDLNB 02-20-2022 07:46 AM

If all else is tried and failed, get a medical consult. Maybe your leg is jerking, commonly known as a "knee jerk reaction" :1rotfl:

Should have said replace. Just did it. Replaced it with a JOD, not the standard JOB that was on it. No jerky starts, better response all around.

The cart has already started moving and then the cart will jerk so I don't think the brake is the issue, but I will try your suggestion.

Thanks

This is my first gas golf cart, but my wife has had a gas cart since 2013 and I have driven it many times. It does not jerk like mine does. Her cart is a Yamaha gas cart as well, but not a Quietech. If I am understanding what you are saying, I should try pressing the gas pedal down slower to start. I'll give that a try.

Thanks
