Cremation societies

Does anyone have experience with cremation societies -- especially local ones?

Avista 10-24-2010 10:55 AM

Can't say we have had experience, but plan to call Florida Cremation Society when the need arises (which hopefully won't be for a long time)

They are at 3307 Wedgewood Lane. Tele:352-694-3838
We haven't paid any money upfront as we don't know where we will be when we die. But I do keep their card handy.

Looked into Neptune, but they seem more expensive. We have our Niches in Illinois.

Will be anxious to read what others say.

Creamation Societies

Used "All Faiths" for my husband's cousin and then my husband. They are located across from El Ranchito's. They were reasonable, compassionate and professional. No complaints.
Checked Neptune. More costly and included "disposal at sea" in their basic package. Why pay for a service (disposal at sea) that wasn't going to be used.
"All Faiths" has been in The Villages for a very long time.

Used them last year when my mother passed. Diana handled everything with care and compassion - cannot recommend them highly enough.

According to the website for All Faiths Cremation Society, they offer complete cremation services starting at $995 for a basic cremation.

Another Option

My husband and I signed with MedCure which is a whole body donation program for research and training. There is no cost to you or the family and you have the option of the cremains being returned to the family. There are a few restrictions as to who can/cannot donate. If you are an organ donor, this does not interfere with that.

Thanks to all...this what makes TOTV so useful!
I agree about Neptune cost..I'll check the other suggested ones.

Dillywho,

Thank you for the information about MedCure. I went to the website and after reading about the organization my husband and I will both be registering with MedCure. We have always said we would like to donate our bodies to science and this organization make it very easy.

Universities with Biomedical departments do this as well. No cost. I work for one. Check around your local area. Long distance doesn't work well. Time is of the essence.
